Orchard Planting

We're having our annual orchard planting weekend on the last weekend of January - starting on the Friday and running through to the Sunday (27th-29th). This year it will be mainly pears - around 90 - and only 10 apple trees, and it will be our last major planting (next year we'll just be infilling gaps) so if you haven't made it in the past but have been meaning to come, now's your chance. Bring a mate (dogs and children welcome too, but let us know).

For those of you who haven't been before, we provide virtually everything: crash space (bring bedding if you are able, we have some space); tools (although if you come in a vehicle and can bring spare spades that's great); food (if you have a specific dietary need beyond being vegan then let us know); normally some amount of evening entertainment, depending on who's around. Generally people seem to have fun as well as working hard, and we couldn't get it done without the extra hands.

If you can't make it, but would like to come some other time then that's good too. we've got lots going on this winter as we got two grants - one for a reservoir and rainwater/irrigation system (currently looking like an very large and expensive puddle) and for a long greenhouse against the barn, with vegetable packing and storage area inside. Anyone wanting to help do block work or greenhouse construction particularly welcome - this will be going on for all of January and possibly beyond. And as we're expanding our veg box scheme we have need for people all growing season too. So come and visit.

Please let us know as soon as possible if/when you're coming so we can sort out accommodation and catering.
