Growing Futures aims to facililitate the growth and ongoing viability of Greengrow through the construction of a new storage and packing facility and a large glasshouse at our market garden in Ilketshall St Andrew.
The veg-box packing room and food storage facility, to be built within the existing barn, will allow us to work more efficiently, and maintain a larger supply of vegetables over a longer season. Similarly, the greenhouse will lengthen our growing season and increase the variety of fruit and veg we are able to grow.
In addition, the project will create opportunities for training and skill sharing for volunteers. In particular, we will run a block laying workshop early in the new year, and there will be opportunities to learn carpentry skills during construction of the greenhouse.
