Members of Greengrow attended a training session on mineral requirements and gut parasites of cattle.

The training was provided by the Three Rivers Vet Group, in conjunction with the National Animal Disease Information Service (NADIS), in one of a series of sessions for Greengrow members. Each topic covered by the training consisted of a multimedia presentation and lecture from a local vet, followed by a question and answer session and a quiz.

The main message of the workshop was that prevention is better than cure, and we learned about the best practice to avoid problems, as well as how to recognise problems early. We will be putting what we have learned into practice even before we get our first cattle later this year, through our pasture management.

Meanwhile, work is progressing on the design for the new livestock corral and overwintering accommodation in the existing barn.
