Pasture

Abutting our woods we have created about five acres of meadow and are in the process of over-seeding them, in order to create flower rich grassland. As across the UK we have lost more than 95% of our flower rich grasslands in the last sixty years, these habitats are important to many different invertebrates, especially the pollinators that our fruit and vegetable supply depends on. These meadows also act, via our livestock, as an external source of nutrients for our vegetable growing areas. This helps us close our nutrient cycles while creating what we hope will be an oasis of biodiversity in a changing landscape.
