Berry Farm Opportunity: Grower

Dynamic grower with field-scale and tractor experience wanted to join workers’ co-op in the Waveney valley to work with us on our 30+ veg box business as part of our veg growing team. Must be willing to take initiative, work co-operatively, market non-box produce to new and existing customers and be comfortable managing volunteers/trainees.

We supply veg boxes in the Beccles/Bungay/Halesworth area, grow dried beans for Hodmedods, supply two local foodbanks and carry out education work with local schools and via the County Trust. We have three large polytunnels, established orchards, and outdoor growing space integrated with our leys/stock grazing (red poll cattle). We are committed to agro-ecological principles and social justice and aim to work in a friendly and supportive way. Position has come about as one of our workers is moving on.

This role would suit someone who has at least two growing seasons under their belt and is now looking for a place where they can take on more responsibility as part of a co--operative team. We actively encourage people under-represented in horticulture (women, POC, LGBTQ+) to apply.

Hours: x4 days a week (Mon-Thurs)

Pay and benefits package: £10.42 hourly rate (expressed as £813.20 payment plus £400 month rent, £41/month water, electric, slightly rubbish WiFi and surplus veg).

Role is for an immediate start for the remainder of this growing season (31 Oct 2023) with the possibility to extend and become a permanent co-op member for the right person.
